I'm disappointed, we seem to be getting older players which was so unsuccessful a couple of years back...
However, if he scores a hatful and gets us back up, I'll be happy :D

When we went the "young and hungry route" we just made second place and were all at sea back in the Premiership.
These 2 signings I figure will give us a more solid base when we go back up and time to pick and choose the younger player.

We need the brains, not just fast feet.

Great signing in my opinion. Forget his age, proven track record at this level. Welcome Super Kev!

Rather have him than say Owen.

Please tell me you don't really mean that "no"

Tell me what Owen has done for the past 3-4 years.........................nowt spent most of his time on his sick bed. I think he and Paul Furlong share a private ward. He is back for a couple of games then injured again.

Not just Albion's player of the season last year but Championship player of the season - ie the fizzy pop equivalent of Ronaldo! Sure he's not getting any younger but a great signing in my mind.

As an aside, anyone know of anyone who has also played for Blues, Albion and the Vile? I know Ron Saunders managed all three but am struggling to think of any players who have been at all three.

Might be making his debut today (10th July) as Blues (1st team) are hosting Hereford in a behind closed doors friendly, then we play them at Hereford next Saturday

A very small elite club and yes, Hopkins is one and other recent ones were Colin Withers and Tony Morley

i would just like to wish kevin all the very best, and thank him for all his efforts over the last couple of years. not all his goals are tap ins some were just pure class and you dont need to sprint to score those you need skill. if he stays injury free i expect him to get you at least 20 goals and would like to assure him of a warm welcome back to the hawthorns the following year hopefully in the prem.
all the best kev and many many thanks once again.you are going to another great club and i know you wont let them down.
maulley.

Personally, I think KP has been bought to get us out of the brown stuff. Under the circumstances he just might help us to get straight back up. (not holding my breath) When all said and done what top player is going to come to a Championship side. I still think our new boy could just be a little past the sell by date, hope I'm wrong; I want to be wrong.

He may be be approaching the end of his career, but wasn't he last year, and he scored a bag full for the Albion.

He's proven in this league and even at 34 years old is the best finisher in the Championship. The Albion are idiots for not rewarding him a two year deal. He's always scored goals, so if he repeats last years performance, and the following season makes it to double digits even as super-sub. The signing will be instrumental.

Did we pay a sizeable fee? He's on a free....so whats the problem?
If we chose not to pay Forsell's 25k wages, then Phillips will be on less, we've trimmed the wages, and we're getting quality on board, to provide leadership and a strong spine to the team.

A good signing for the Blue IMO. Great goal to game ratio throughout his career. 1 goal every 2 games. Not bad. Rather have him than say Owen.

Welcome Kev glad you chose us. 35 is young. I am over 50 and still play football. :drink:

goalkeeper? because at forty five i could play but the next day i could not walk. :boohoo:

Agreed.
Certain aspects always remain with a player.
Phillips has never had a lot of pace, just an instinctive awareness of where the goal is, and how to put the ball in it! And age doesn't effect that instinct **thumbup

Please read my post today titled what we lack is creativity.
Where I state that KP has made me eat my words and fair play to him, I'm glad to eat my words.
I do not want to sound pessimistic One swallow dosen't make a Summer, I hope KP brings us more Summer's.
Now I'm no football manager, just a question why did AM not put KP on from the kick-off?
I'm not knocking the decision I'm just asking.
